WELCOME TO BIRD CAMP 2019
May 16 – 19, 2019 (2 or 3 nights)

 

·      Peak spring migration

·      Wild & varied habitats within an hour of Camp: subalpine, spruce/fir, northern hardwoods, wetlands, lakes, rivers, farms, villages, edges… guided trips to all…

·      We had 94 species in 2 days at the last CRC Bird Camp (May 2017)!

·      Evening programs too!

 

Starts Thursday evening dinner & ends after Sunday breakfast (2 or 3 nights).

Two or more trips led daily by area birding experts…. Plus evening programs!

All ages & experience levels welcome.

Accommodations

·      rustic, beautiful cabins with fireplace or wood stove, 2 – 6 beds per cabin

·      separate shared bathroom buildings with hot showers

·      central dining & socializing in the Lodge

            $89/person/night total for lodging & 3 meals & use of all Camp facilities

About Bird Camp
Birding enthusiasts from around the region will meet up at AMC's Cold River Camp (www.amccoldrivercamp.org) for a weekend of birding during peak migration in the wild & varied habitats around Chatham, NH.  Starts with Thursday evening dinner & ends after Sunday breakfast; come for 2 or 3 nights. Includes scheduled outings & evening programs in an informal and comfortable atmosphere.  Just $89/night for lodging & all meals.  À la carte options for meals & trips available. All ages & experience levels welcome.

Except for Thursday, all outings begin at, and evening presentations are at, Cold River Camp. Field trips will be tailored with participant input. Participants will carpool, using their own vehicles, organized at sign-up at meals.

12:30 pm Field trip (on the way to Camp!):Thompson Preserve (Sandwich) – Dahl Sanctuary (No. Conway) – Saco Valley bottomlands (No. Conway) – Hurricane Mountain Road. Meet at 12:30 pm at the Alice B. Thompson Preserve (NH Audubon), Route 113, Sandwich, NH. End about 5:00 pm at Cold River Camp (Trip leader: Ned Beecher & Will Broussard) You must advance register for this trip: ned.beecher@gmail.com or 603-387-7869.

8:30 am Field trips depart (Trip leaders: Peter Norton, Ned Beecher, Stefan Gaschott, etc.) Full-day trip: maybe Pondicherry & Jefferson Notch Road and/or Kezar Lake - Crocker Pond/Patte Brook – Grafton Notch ½-day trips (morning and/or afternoon): maybe Brownfield Bog, Province Pond, Sucker Brook Preserve (Lovell), etc.

CHECKOUT: 10:00 am on Saturday or Sunday: Remove your stuff, fold blankets, sweep cabin, take trash to Housekeeping. Do this before you go on any trip. You can leave things in your car at Camp and use bathhouses & grounds until 4:00 pm.
